What was your biggest mistake?

My biggest mistake was thinking my business could serve everyone. When I first started out in business I was selling t-shirts and I just thought I could sell to everyone. WRONG! What worked best for me was finding one market and servicing that one market. That’s what led me to selling jewelry.

How do you learn from failure or setbacks?

I don’t believe in failure. I believe in lessons. If it doesn’t work that just means there is a better way to do it. So I do whatever I need to do to find the better way to do it.

What are the most crucial things you have done to grow your business?

Networking has always been important for me. When I first started out in business I had no real money I was on unemployment so I attended local events, flea markets, where ever there was an event I was there. This helped me get local exposure. When I started to make money I started to invest in marketing. FB ads, connecting with influencers and bloggers.

What three pieces of advice would you offer entrepreneurs starting out today?

Don’t wait for opportunities, create it! Often times we wait for someone to give us the opportunity, we wait for the right time to start a business but what if the right opportunity never comes. The timing will never be perfect or right just follow your heart.

Live on purpose. Figure out why you are here and operate in your why. Don’t get caught up in money if you live on purpose money will follow you.

Don’t become loyal to dysfunction. If it’s not working in your business abandon it. Sometimes we get so used to systems and processes that have worked for us in the past and we become loyal to it. If it’s no longer working for your business there’s no need for it.

How has being an entrepreneur affected your family life?

I don’t have any kids yet so it hasn’t really affected me in that area. I can say family members don’t understand the dynamics of being an entrepreneur.

What motivates you?

My faith In God motivates me and when I think about the people I am called to serve that keeps me pressing forward.

What makes you happy?

Living on purpose makes me happy.

What sacrifices have you had to make to be a successful entrepreneur?

Wow. So many sacrifices while everyone is hanging out I was up late building my business. I passed up on some opportunities because I believed in my brand and business. I lost friendships as well as I stated before some people don’t understand the dynamics of an entrepreneur. We believe in our dreams and we fight for what we believe in.

How do you define success?

Success to me is living a life of purpose. It’s when you know who you are and what you were created to do. Once you have that figured out and you are operating in it the possibilities are endless.

How do you live an authentic life?

My faith keeps my grounded. I believe we are either operating from a place of fear or love. I chose love, God is love and love never fails.

What does living a Designed Life mean to you?

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans that I have for you declares the Lord…I know I advocate for purpose a lot LOL but living a designed life to me means being who and all that God created me to be. When I’m living from a place of purpose I’m living my life to the fullest.
